The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly come with plenty of ups and downs. However, despite all of the challenges that came with quarantine, I’m sure some of us felt that through all of the extra time we gained, we were able to reevaluate our priorities and make new discoveries about ourselves. Sound familiar? If so, you’re not alone. In the midst of the pandemic, New York Times bestseller and journalist, Duff McDonald, found himself struggling with the fight between our desire to be in control vs. just enjoying experiences as they come. In response, he wrote “Tickled,” a new book that draws inspiration from sources like Bob Dylan and Buddha to Harry Potter to discuss how to be more present at work, in relationships, and what he calls the “Science of Experience.” He knows that ‘tickle’ is a funny, maybe awkward word, but he finds it’s the right one to describe when you are in the moment, experiencing reality as consciously as you can, and enjoying every second of it. We’re speaking with Duff McDonald now to learn more about his book and the philosophy of finding what “tickles” us.
