Discovering Beetles

You don’t need to go to a new planet to discover new life—there’s still plenty more to find here. Michigan State University entomologist Sarah Smith just discovered more than three dozen new species of beetles. She’s naming them all after prominent sci-fi and dystopian heroines from series like Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and The Hunger Games. (Photo: coptoborus katniss beetle)
