Cross-Class Friendships

Schools in America today are segregating more and more along racial lines and according to income. That deprives children of the opportunity to make friends of different class and race backgrounds. And that may be depriving lower-income children of an academic boost that comes just from having a friend whose parents are more educated and well-off. How can friends make that much difference? University of Connecticut postdoctoral fellow Leah Lessard and has been investigating friends and education.
