Spiders communicate by vibrating their webs, causing strands of silk to tremble. MIT researcher Markus Buehler and a group of collaborators transformed these vibrations into music that sounds like something out of a horror movie. But it might allow scientists to “talk back” to spiders. Buehler was joined by Isabelle Su, Ian Hattwick, Christine Southworth, Eran Egozy, Evan Ziporyn, and Tomas Saraceno in this work.
