Michelangelo. Leonardo da Vinci. Raphael. All famous artists of the Renaissance and all men. I’ll bet you can’t even think of a female artist from the renaissance. So where are the women? It’s not that they didn’t create art during that time –their work has just faded out of memory. The organization Advancing Women Artists has been working to close that gender gap by tracking down Renaissance art by women. They’ve identified some 2,000 works and financed the full restoration of 70 pieces. Linda Falcone is the director of Advancing Women Artists. (Segment produced by Cecilia Foster)
