History Textbooks

When US history textbooks are next updated, they may describe our current events differently based on which state you live in. The nuance of how history is taught in textbooks for Kindergarten through 12th grade is heavily influenced by state standards and–often–political ideology. Jesus de la Teja–a retired professor of history from Texas State University and former president of the Texas State Historical Association–worked for the state of Texas and for publishers reviewing history textbooks.
