Kidnappings in Nigeria

Nigeria is in a kidnapping crisis. Since January, a record 3,000 people have been abducted across the country. This last Monday, gunmen took 10 children from a hospital in Nigeria, then another group abducted 121 schoolchildren 45 miles away. Reporters Drew Hinshaw and Joe Parkinson say 2014 was a turning point. That’s when 276 schoolgirls were kidnapped by Boko Haram and #BringBackOurGirls went viral on social media. The hashtag only made the problem worse. Hinshaw is co-author of the book “Bring Back Our Girls: The Untold Story of the Global Search for Nigeria’s Missing Schoolgirls.” (Originally aired: March 25th, 2021)
