Nearly every single US Senator –Republican and Democrat –voted Thursday in favor of a hate crimes bill aimed at the dramatic rise in violence and discrimination against Asian Americans during the pandemic. Illinois Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth has been a vocal supporter of the legislation, which has a good chance of passing the House in the coming weeks.
