Important conversations and encouraging words to help you make every day a great one. Traveling with Children (00:00) Carrie Anne Rhodes joins Lisa to talk about the pleasures and pitfalls of travelling with kids. Tech Generation (14:52) How many hours each day should I let my kids play on the iPad? Are videogames rotting their brains? What do I do when they throw a tantrum every time I try to get them off the computer? In their new book, Tech Generation, Mike Brooks and Jon Lasser answer these questions and detail their Tech Happy Life Model, a plan that helps parents teach their kids how to use technology in healthy, productive ways and minimize its negative consequences. Dr. Mike Brooks is a licensed psychologist and director of the Austin Psychology & Assessment Center. He runs the website “Tech Happy Life” and is the co-author of Tech Generation. Gen Z Podcasts (50:16) With the rise of smart speakers, smart cars, and smart everything-else, listening to podcasts is becoming more common. These modern broadcasts are generally released in episodes, and vary from talk-shows (like this one) to storytelling, to book reviews, scripted dramas, political commentary, audiobooks, and almost anything else you could talk about on the air. Gen Z is a media company that produces award-winning scripted podcasts exclusively for kids, or, “Generation Z.” We are joined in studio by founders Ben Strouse and David Kreizman, who will be producing a new podcast for BYU Radio. Thanks for being with us, Ben and David. You can access their podcasts here.  Family Movie Night (1:24:41) Maybe you want to celebrate Halloween by having a movie marathon with your family, but it can be hard to know how scary the movies you show your kids should be. Producer Rod Gustafson joins Lisa to talk about age-appropriate scary movies you can use to get into the Halloween spirt. Here is the list of movies they spoke about: Young Children: It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie My Nieghbor Totoro 'Tweens: Monst
