Roadside Ramblers

In this episode we go back to what some people call "The Jazz Age." It's the era of Jelly Roll Morton, Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong and his Hot Five, and of youth rebellion. It's the Roaring Twenties, brought to you by the Roadside Ramblers, specializing in 20's and 30's jazz that takes you right to the heart of New Orleans. The Roadside Ramblers have been sharing their love of early jazz with audiences for years, but their shows aren't just about the music. Show up to one of their gigs and you'll find folks dressed up in period-accurate attire and dance instructors helping bring the era to life. While they didn't bring the dancers tonight, they did bring the foot-tapping classics they're famous for, and a wealth of experience and information about the music and its history and significance.
