Whether you watched the Oscars last month or not, you might recognize the short film title—“Hair Love”, which won the academy award for Best Animated Short Film. The writer and director, Matthew Cherry, wanted to promote hair love among young men and women of color, which isn’t represented in mainstream media nearly enough. Bryce Randle, film and TV editor at Disney TV animation, joined the “Hair Love” team as a side project to pay for his kids’ summer camp. Little did he know, this animated short would win an Oscar, while helping break black stereotypes. Bryce is here to talk to us about his work on the project as an animation editor.
