Several cities across the Western US have banned Fourth of July fireworks because of wildfire risk in the extreme heat and drought. But say the worst happens—who’s to combat the wildfire? Smoke jumpers parachute out of airplanes to reach remote fires. One of them, Jason Ramos, published a book about his experiences called "Smokejumper: A Memoir by One of America’s Most Select Airborne Firefighters."
