Adult Literacy

Did you know that 773 million adults around the world are illiterate? In the US alone, 21% of adults are illiterate. This means that they don’t know how to read or write. Many of these adults did not have access to resources to help them succeed in school. Teaching adults how to read and write will help Improve many problems that we see in our society, and will also improve the individual’s quality of life. Today, we are happy to have Shauna Brown with us. Shauna is an executive director for Project Read, which is a nonprofit adult literacy program based in Utah County. Shauna served as a volunteer tutor for Project Read. She and her husband Dennis are the proud parents of six children and foster parents to more than a dozen additional children.
