Cyberbullying

One of the scariest, and entertaining, digital bunny holes you can fall into is the comment section of any social media platform. The comments are entertaining and witty, but they can also be savage and very biting. If you’re not careful you can accidently wander onto a thread of strangers ganging together to attack one unsuspecting vitcim. In fact, the Pew Research Center recently released a study that found one in five victims of virtual harassment said it happened in the comment section, not in private messages or independent posts. What can we do to ensure that the comments that entertain us, aren’t also the weapons aimed to harm others. To talk to us about our role in ending cyberbullying we’ve invited Richard Culatta, CEO of the International Society for Technology in Education and the author of the book “Digital For Good: Raising Kids to Thrive in an Online World” back on the show.
