Dr. Atrey studies issues related to homeland security and privacy issues in multimedia surveillance systems. Automated teller machines, better known as ATMs, just turned 50 this past June. Yet, even 50 years later, we still have problems keeping the machines secure. Credit cards now have pins and magnetic strips, and the ATMs have cameras all around them, but thieves have kept up with the technology changes.
