Life Changing Effects of Catching Mental Illness Early in Children

For a long time, a negative stigma has surrounded the topic of mental illness making it difficult to talk about and leaving many misinformed. As a result, many adults have gone through the painful experience of not getting a diagnosis or treatment for their mental illness until much later in life. So, the Children’s Hospital Association has started a program to help detect and diagnose mental illness in children and young adults early on and make sure that they receive the proper treatment. Dr. Amy Knight, the President of Children’s Hospital Association, is here with us today to talk about the program, the importance of catching mental illness early, and how this program can change the lives and future of many children.
