- Jul 20, 2012 6:00 am
Hailed by the Salt Lake Tribune as one of the top ten musical events in Utah, the Intermezzo Chamber Music Series of Salt Lake City provides an intimate classical music experience during the summer. The Series features superb local, professional performers and bold programming that interweaves the familiar, the novel and the obscure. Featured in the Series are commissioned works by living composers, as well as traditional chamber music. Co-founder and Music Director Vedrana Subotic is here with us today to tell us about the festival and also to perform. Vedrana graduated from the former Yugoslavia’s State Music Conservatory at age fifteen, and received a Bachelor of Music degree from Belgrade University four years later. She has since earned a Master of Music from Michigan State University, and an Artist Diploma and Doctor of Music from Indiana University. Vedrana has taught piano at Indiana University, Hartford Conservatory, and the Chautauqua Institution in NY where she was also Head of the Instrumental Accompanying from 1995-2001. In 2003, she founded the piano program at the Horne School of Music at Utah’s Snow College, an all-Steinway school, and directed it until 2008 where she took on the reins of the Intermezzo Chamber Music Series. Joining her are: cellist Anne Lee and violinist Claude Halter, both currently performing with the Utah Symphony. They are engaged to be married and have performed nationally with the New World Symphony in Florida. Together all three musicians give us a personal sneak-peek at the ongoing Intermezzo Chamber Music Series. Don’t miss it!
