Hot summers and dry winters, year after year, are permanently shrinking the American West’s water resources. But there’s a source of water that most communities have yet to fully tap into; wastewater. El Paso, Texas, is on track to be the first big city in the country to send treated sewage water directly back to the tap. El Paso Water chief technical officer Gilbert Trejo explains how it works.
